Las Cruces community organization and local business come together to help a family who lost everything in a holiday fire.

Las Cruces, NM February 19, 2015: For Immediate Release. The employees and owner of Comet Cleaners in Las Cruces and the Knights of Columbus (Basilica de San Albino Council #15578) have teamed up to purchase a new mobile ho
me and basic furnishings for a family who lost their home in a holiday fire. The family lost everything in the fire.

knights of ColumbusDan Schneider, owner of Comet Cleaners, was moved by his employees when they asked if he would take a portion of their paychecks each week and put it towards a new home. This inspired him to help as well. “A community has to take care of each other,” Dan says. “Without civic duty there can be no true community.“ Dan who opened his first dry cleaners operation over 20 years ago in Las Cruces, is active in many community projects.
Dan then went to the Knights of Columbus to request further assistance “for the family.” The Knights founding principal is charity. The organization, which has global chapters, partners with projects like the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and their own Food for Families project.
